A round of golf, summer garden party and a weekly staff lottery has helped a legal firm raise more than £2,100 to support disabled people and their families.
Kind-hearted staff at PCS Legal have rallied to support the work of Papworth Trust and in particular the charity’s Basildon Centre which offers a range of leisure and learning activities for people with physical, learning or sensory disabilities.
Papworth Trust was chosen as the charity of the year of PCS Legal, which has offices in Ongar and Basildon, with staff organising an event at Orsett Golf Course as well as a hugely popular summer garden party in Herongate.
Sarah Joy, conveyancing executive at the firm, said: “We went to see Papworth Trust’s work at the Basildon Centre and we were hugely impressed.
“The big appeal for us was that it was nice to have a charity that is on our doorstep, where you could see where every penny is spent.”
The company recently presented a cheque for £2,108 and Sarah added: “We are delighted with how it has gone so far. It has been absolutely fantastic and we would like to thank every single person who has supported and donated so far.”
Jo Revitt, corporate partnership fundraiser at Papworth Trust, said: “We have been hugely impressed by the commitment and dedication of PCS Legal staff and we cannot thank them enough.”
Staff are now planning to take on the Ben Nevis Challenge next year to raise money for Papworth Trust.
